FP 25 Root Bound

Or Growing Down

Have you ever seen a root bound plant? The roots can literally be so bound up and intertwined that they appear to be a ball of string woven tightly around the outer surface of the soil inside the pot. What causes a plant to become root bound? Not enough room to grow deep life giving roots that will cause the plant to produce vibrant, healthy foliage which is a blessing to the Gardner as well as the casual observer. They need a larger container.

How sad it is that relationships suffer because we're so narrow minded and encapsulated in our own small world, hemmed in by problems and the trials of life, that our roots get bound up and we cease to grow. Not only does our relationship with the Gardner suffer, but those who would otherwise draw joy from our lives miss the blessing also.

What's the cure? Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. Ephesians 3:17 (NLT)

According to God's word, Christ at home in the heart is the answer to every problem, every circumstance, and every "root bound life". So for today, answer this question: Is Christ not only "at home in your heart" but are you committing to Him, witnessing to Him, witnessing to His word, and trusting in Him with your entire everyday life?

Pray this prayer today: Father, help me to realize that growing deep in you is not a belief system, but a lifestyle. Help me today, not only to know you, but to grow deep roots as I depend on your love and strength in all of my relationships. Help me to love others by not withholding from them, "Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ," Ephesians 4:15 (ESV)

Until Tomorrow,

Pastor Steve
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:16-19 (NLT)
