Fireproof Day 16

WILD RIDE ON FEAR STREET!
Volatile Markets & Marriages

Those were the headlines from one of yesterday’s top news stories, “Wild Ride on Fear Street” as a huge sell off resulted from growing fears about the unstable economy, whether the buyout will work, and where it’s all headed.

Another resultant news story that followed that one is a horrid, dark, and unfathomable result of what fear and desperation will do to the mind of mankind.

AN unemployed California man shot and killed his wife, three children and mother-in-law before taking his own life over his family's financial difficulties, police said today (yesterday). Los Angeles Police Department deputy chief Michael Moore said the gunman, 45, shot his wife, 39, her mother, 70, and three sons aged 19, 12 and seven at their home in an up market suburb of Los Angeles.

"We believe this individual had become despondent recently over his financial dealings and the financial situation of his household, and this murder-suicide event is a direct result of that," Mr Moore said. A letter apparently left by the gunman attested to the family's financial difficulties, he said. The Courier Mail

Too many times, because of our fear, we take extreme measures in our homes and families when the problems appear insurmountable. That’s what fear does; it blows the problem at hand beyond the reality of the truth. And unless we realize it, fear will drive us to moments of insanity. The cure? God’s Spirit over our spirit is an unstoppable force of strength and power and love.
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and
self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

Satan has one desire in mind: Destroy what God created! And according to what Jesus said, one of His most precious creations was marriage.
So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate." Matthew 19:6 (ESV)

Fear separates, condemns, questions, mistrusts, abuses relationships, and will seek to call bad what God calls good. Fear will place a wedge in your relationships and bring words that only the power of God will be able to overcome. It will make you who you are not, and do things that you would not do were you not driven by this ever morphing giant called fear. But know this until tomorrow:
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 1 John 4:18 (ESV)

So for today, whoever you are and wherever you are, follow God’s instructions for this day: "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

Be still,

Pastor Steve
